Some of these aren’t so healthy, but I’d love to try the Watermelon + Salt, and Mango + Cayenne Pepper combos!
I think I will be moving this blog
I mentioned yesterday that I wanted to rename my blog, but I think I will be moving it instead. I won’t be deleting this one, I will just submit one final post with a link to my new URL.
The reason for this is that I think I have a lot of negativity on this blog here, and I sincerely want a new, fresh, positive start. Not just wiping down an already used, slightly cracked slate - I want a...

GET OFF YOUR ASS
smarthealth:
The more time you spend each day sitting, the more you shorten your lifespan. That’s what a study published in the July 22nd edition of theAmerican Journal of Epidemiology suggests. Researchers tracked the habits of 123,216 adults for 14 years. They found that women who spent 6 hours sitting down each day had a 37% greater risk of death than those who logged less than 3 hours off...

I’ve been telling my friends this all along! I’m so glad it will no longer be a misconception that Vitaminwater is healthy, and a FACT that it is not.
Unless you puke, faint or die, keep going.

I’m gonna need to remember this when I get my ass back in the gym next month!

I wish that when I was younger I could have met my current self. We would have sat down at a coffee shop so that I could explain life to young me in terms that only we would understand. It would have saved me a lot of hardship.
You can listen to all the sage wisdom you want, but things only make sense when you can explain them to yourself in your own words. For instance,...

Friday's Dinner: Homemade Kung Pao Chicken
Friday night I made a delicious spicy Kung Pao chicken dish, which was VERY WELL RECEIVED may I add! I got the recipe from SeriousEats.com but I skimped ever so slightly on the more spicy stuff like peppercorns & chilies because I ddn’t want to burn our mouths! I also didn’t follow one of the directions correctly, which was to use up the peanut oil which had been flavored by...

I went to a Trapeze class tonight!
Jeez, I wish I had pictures! But seeing as it was a small taster session, I didn’t feel it would be appropriate to snap pictures.
Let me tell you, IT WAS HARD! I didn’t really notice my muscles working very much, probably because I was so focused on following through with the moves and not falling, but I definitely felt the pull and the stretch. Tomorrow I anticipate some major...

I cooked dinner again tonight!
But failed to take a picture as we were in a rush to get to our trapeze class (!)
I made whole-wheat spaghetti with sausage, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes and garlic. I based it on this recipe, but used spaghetti instead of orecchiette, asparagus instead of broccoli, and I forgot to add the lemon juice. I also didn’t do the weird water thing like the instructions on that site say to do.

My World Famous Burger
The night before last I tried my hand at cooking a ‘Thank You’ meal to serve 3. After a long sift through the recipe section of Serious Eats I decided that burgers would be fun delicious, and wouldn’t involve too much skill. I mean really, is it possible to make a gross burger unless you actually try to sabotage it?
So I combined these two recipes to create this (please...

I'm going to be skinny and I'm going to be...
I said this to myself over and over under my breath 3/4 of the way as I speedily stomped home. Probably a good 15 minutes of ‘crazy lady talking to herself’.
I got very, very upset, was on the verge of tears and needed affirmation that I would change my life. Saying this out loud to myself over and over for a period of time, as a mantra, makes it seem like reality.
Dairy avoidance...

Finally, paying respects to Patisserie Valerie
I have been a fan of Patisserie Valerie for years - ever since I first visited London and stepped foot in Knightsbridge ten years ago. My mother and I used to frequent the one along Brompton Road and would get a chocolate eclair, which became a sort of tradition. On a few occasions we tried out the one right next to/opposite Harrods on Hans Rd, but the Brompton one was always our go-to Pat Val. On...
