I'm shedding those lbs. This is proof!

I went to a Trapeze class tonight!

Jeez, I wish I had pictures! But seeing as it was a small taster session, I didn’t feel it would be appropriate to snap pictures.

Let me tell you, IT WAS HARD! I didn’t really notice my muscles working very much, probably because I was so focused on following through with the moves and not falling, but I definitely felt the pull and the stretch. Tomorrow I anticipate some major soreness of the arms from all the pulling, blistered palms from the gripping, and bruised backs of knees from rubbing the bar trying to hold up my body!

I had a really tough time pulling myself up into the initial position, where you kick off, throw your torso back, pull your knees up to your chest and grip the bar above your head with your feet. After that you position yourself into a pike, which I was fine with, but pulling myself up was nearly impossible! I needed help every time except for once, unfortunately. I think the problem is that I don’t exercise or do strength training very often at all, so I have weak core and upper body muscles.

Later we sat on the bar, stood on the bar, and hung off it with our arms dangling!
It was fun, unique and tough - I’m glad I tried out something new and got to see something so interesting, but I doubt I would carry on with this as a fitness routine. If a block of lessons for a cheap price was available, I would do it for fun, but when I am working on my fitness I like to actually feel my muscles working, the strength/perseverance challenge, etc.

Has anyone else tried or is planning to try trapeze classes?
